This 1953 hard to find Display and Play complete red mustache Monopoly board and utensil set is a fun and unique item for the collector in your life!
Parker Brothers' patent expired on December 31, 1952. As they often did, they made use of their existing inventory and, in this case, they printed mustaches over the expired patent on their box and board labels. This set is considered hard to find.
Game History:
Parker Brothers signed a contract with Charles B Darrow on March 19, 1935 and began selling Monopoly shortly thereafter. They quickly learned that the first patent actually belonged to Elizabeth Magie who's patent (after purchasing it from her) of 1,509,312 was the first to appear on the game after "Trade Mark" and then "Patent Pending".
Game Details:
- Until 1958, Parker Brothers sold Monopoly with a small utensil box, alongside the board, as a set, as well as the standard long-box version.
- Board is in great condition. It is sturdy and shows very little wear.
- The box is sturdy and in great condition. There are tape marks and residual tape. All dividers are missing except for the money divider.
-
This version has 8 wooden playing pieces, but one is missing. All Chance and Community Chest cards are present as well as all of the property cards. All cards are in great condition.
