Game History:

Candy Land was first released in 1949 and is celebrating it's 75th anniversary this year! The game was created by Eleanor Abbott, a teacher, who contracted polio in her 30s and spent time in a polio hospital surrounded by children who were isolated from their families. She created Candy Land as a way to help them pass the time.

Game Details:

🎲 Finished size = approximately 18" x 18"
🎲 This very special board is the original version of Candy Land from 1949, showing a line on the boy's leg and he and the girl have a brace on their leg representing polio. Milton Bradley quickly updated the game by removing the lines in it's second version. The board shows wear and has some stains on it. I've included pictures of the most notable ones, including the loose seam.
🎲 All four wooden playing pieces are present. I have not been able to find how many cards were to be in this original version. This game has 62 color cards plus the 7 treat cards. All cards are darkened with age and show wear.
🎲The box is sturdy, but stained with minor repairs.

Games contain small pieces and are not intended for children under the age of 4.
