This 1953 green moustache Monopoly board and utensil set is a must have for the game collector!
Parker Brothers' patent expired on December 31, 1952. As they often did, they made use of their existing inventory and, in this case, they printed mustaches over the expired patent on their box and board labels. This set is considered hard to find.
*PLEASE NOTE: If choosing Game plus Frame, please allow 3 weeks build time.
Game History:
Parker Brothers signed a contract with Charles B Darrow on March 19, 1935 and began selling Monopoly shortly thereafter. They quickly learned that the first patent actually belonged to Elizabeth Magie who's patent (after purchasing it from her) of 1,509,312 was the first to appear on the game after "Trade Mark" and then "Patent Pending".
Game Details:
- Until 1958, Parker Brothers sold Monopoly with a small utensil box, alongside the board, as a set, as well as the standard long-box version.
- Board is in good condition. It is sturdy, but the facing and the back have some staining, with a few creases in the label.
- The box is sturdy and in great condition. There is a taped corner in the lid and wear on the bottom box edges. All dividers are present including a few homemade replacements.
-
The instructions were missing so I've added an older version. This game version had 8 playing pieces and they are all present. All Chance and Community Chest cards are present as well as all of the property cards. All cards show normal wear for their age
Games contain small pieces and are not intended for children under the age of 4.
