Spread a little sunshine with this gorgeous 1950s Pyrex Primary Yellow 4qt mixing bowl - a vintage kitchen necessity!
HISTORY
The 1945 Primary Colors Bowl Set was the first of the opal ware with an overlay of color produced by Pyrex. It was the result of a collaboration between Corning Glass Works and the US Government to create a sturdy, unbreakable dish for WWII soldiers. The foot of the bowl from 1945 to 1949 was deeper than the redesigned version in 1950 that has the flatter footing.
DETAILS
- The date range for this bowl would be between the 1950s and the mid-1960s due to its backstamp.
- The bowl's capacity is 4 quarts and would have been the largest bowl in the set, followed by green, red and blue.
- It measures approximately 10.5" wide by 4.5" tall
- I could only find 3 small scrapes in the color. It's absolutely stunning and seems hardly used. The color is vibrant.
This mixing bowl could start or finish a 1950s Primary Colors Set! Don't be afraid to use this beauty. Just don't put it in the dishwasher. Enjoy!
