Bring a touch of nostalgia and charm to your modern kitchen with this vintage Glasbake mixing bowl. It's the perfect way to mix and serve up your favorite recipes with a touch of retro flair.
HISTORY
Glasbake was introduced in 1907 by the McKee Glass Company (Pittsburgh, PA) as a competitor to Pyrex, offering heat-resistant soda-lime glass bakeware. It gained popularity from the 1920s to the 1970s, producing iconic mid-century designs like the Atomic Starburst and the Sunbeam Mixmaster. In the 1960s, McKee merged with Jeannette Glass (Jeannette, PA), continuing Glasbake’s production until its decline and closure around 1983.
DETAILS
- Large milk glass bowl measures 9.5" by 5" with tab handles.
- Based on the mark on the bottom and the indentation for the stand mixer, this bowl would have been produced between 1950 and the early 1960s. This bowl would have been sold as a set with the Sunbeam Mixmaster and a small mixing bowl.
- This bowl is in great condition. It has flea bites around the rim of the bowl, some light staining from use and other normal wear marks.
Don't be afraid to use this! I do recommend hand washing to preserve the shine on the bowl. Enjoy!
