CHOOSE PURCHASE OPTION:

This exclusive 1936 Monopoly game is a must-have for any passionate collector. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to own a piece of nostalgia and add value to your collection!

This board is considered rare because of it's transition from the black Magie single patent to the blue set after Darrow's patent was approved at the end of 1935, containing both Darrow's and Magie's patents on the outer label, but only Magie's patent on the board legals.

*PLEASE NOTE: If choosing Game plus Frame, please allow 3 weeks build time.

Game History:

Parker Brothers signed a contract with Charles B Darrow on March 19, 1935 and began selling Monopoly shortly thereafter. They quickly learned that the first patent actually belonged to Elizabeth Magie who's patent (after purchasing it from her) of 1,509,312 was the first to appear on the game after "Trade Mark" and then "Patent Pending". Darrow's patent was approved on December 31, 1935 and was used on the games next to Magie's until 1941.

Game Details:

  • Until 1958, Parker Brothers sold Monopoly with a small utensil box, alongside the board, as a set, as well as the standard long-box version.
  • This board is very special due to it's mismatched labels (back of board and board facing). Parker Brothers had often used up inventory, creating fun and unique combinations of Monopoly. This board also contains the Darrow copyright on the Jail space. The back of the board has a few spots and fading. The facing of the board is in wonderful condition. However, there is a pencil mark on 2 of the property spaces.
  • The utensil box is sturdy and in fantastic condition. There are a few marks and discoloration, aligning with it's nearly 90 years of age.
  • The contents seem to have been hardly used! These early versions had 7 playing pieces and all 7 wooden tokens are present. All hotels and houses are present, including the dice. All The property cards and Community Chest and Chance cards are complete and in wonderful condition. There is a small stain on the Park Place card. This version, and others until 1938, contain 2 of the "...Nearest Railroad..." cards. Very cool! The original instructions and the ad insert are included. All dividers are present.

Games contain small pieces and are not intended for children under the age of 4.
