CHOOSE PURCHASE OPTION:

This stunning Parker Brothers Pastime Puzzle offers a challenging yet beautiful depiction of the Liberty Bell being rang for the first time. Perfect for those who enjoy a good puzzle!

This Parker Brothers Pastime Puzzle is based on the painting by American artist, Jean Leon Gerome Ferris (1863-1930) of the Liberty Bell rung for the first time while still in the foundry.

The optional handmade wood tray is ideal for completing these Pastime Puzzles, keeping the pieces contained while putting it together and allowing you to move the tray from room to room as you complete it. The puzzle can be displayed in the tray, flat or tilted at an angle against a wall.

*PLEASE NOTE: If choosing puzzle plus tray, please allow 2 weeks build time.

Puzzle History:

Parker Brothers released the Pastime Puzzles in 1908 and by early 1909. they were producing 15,000 per week. The skill behind these gorgeous 3-ply wood puzzles are from the "Pastime Girls" who were required to cut 1,400 pieces per day. Their amazing craftmanship is shown in each hand cut puzzle, including the patented Figurals (figures, shapes, letters, etc) within the puzzle. Each puzzle was to have 12 Figurals per hundred pieces. The puzzles remained very popular, played by Presidents, Czars and the Royal Family, until the early 1930s. The last Pastime Puzzles were manufactured until the 1950s.
