Game History:
The history of Jack Straws is very obscure. One version of the game dates back to ancient China. McLoughlin Brothers were known for their gorgeous artwork, both in games and books. They used chromolithography for their games, including incredible colors and graphics. Their game division was purchased by Milton Bradley in 1920.
Game Details:
🎲 Size = approximately 6" x 4.5" 🎲 This GORGEOUS antique game is incredible! The label on the lid still shows off the beautiful colors that McLoughlin Bros are known for! The box is sturdy with a few nicks and a small stain on the outer apron. 🎲 The instructions are included and are in wonderful condition! There is a slight tear at the bottom. Please see picture. 🎲 The "Straws" are in fantastic shape! They appear to be hand carved. One rake is broken, but it looks like it could be glued back on. There is no indication as to how many sticks should be included. I did find it mentioned on the web, that there should be 57 sticks. This game has 17 straight pieces and 27 tools plus 2 hooks.
